粗筋／荒筋 Plot
死を告げる天使であるセスは、ある日、ロサンゼルスの外科医マギーが、
患者の命を懸命に救おうとする姿に惹かれ、一目惚れする。
One day, Seth, the
angel of death,
falls in love at first sight with Maggie,
a Los Angeles surgeon,
as he watches her try her best to save her patient's life.
マギーは見えないはずの自分をしっかりと見つめていたという。
Maggie was apparently staring
intently at himself,
even though he was supposed to be invisible.
患者の死に自責の念にかられるマギーの前に、
天使の掟を破り姿を現したセスは、
マギーと接するうちにより深くマギーを愛するようになる。
Seth breaks the rules
of angels and appears before Maggie,
who is plagued by guilt
over the death of a patient,
and as he interacts with her he begins to love
her more deeply.
そして、マギーもまた徐々にセスに惹かれて行く。
Maggie also gradually becomes attracted to
Seth.

mediates the relationship.
しかし、天使のままでは彼女を真に愛することができないことに、
セスは思い悩む。
However, Seth is troubled
by the fact that
he will not be able to truly love her if he remains an angel.
そんなある日、セスはマギーの患者メッシンジャーと出会う。
One day, Seth meets Messinger, one of Maggie's
patients.
メッシンジャーは元天使で、
自分もかつて人間の女性（現在の妻）に恋をして天使をやめたことを語る。
Messinger is a former
angel, and he explains that
he too once fell in love with a human woman
(his current wife)
and gave up being an
angel.
マギーはセスがポラロイドに写っていないし、血を出さないことを不思議に思う。
Maggie wonders
why Seth doesn't appear in the Polaroid and
isn't bleeding.
マギーの不眠症にも付き合ってくれる。
He also helps Maggie with her insomnia.
マギーが同僚のジョーダンから求婚される。
Maggie receives a marriage
proposal from her co-worker,
Jordan.
セスはメッシンジャーに教えられた通り、
建築中のビルから飛び降りて人間になる。
As instructed by Messinger,
Seth jumps off a building
under construction
and becomes human.
赤い血を流し、痛みを感じる人間の身体に喜ぶセスは、
ヒッチハイクでマギーのいる別荘にやって来る。
Seth, who enjoys the red
blood and pain of a human body,
hitchhikes to Maggie's vacation home.
そんなセスをマギーは受け入れ、遂に二人は結ばれる。
Maggie accepts Seth, and the two eventually
become a couple.
幸せを感じる二人だが、喜びもつかの間、
自転車で買い物に出かけたマギーが事故に遭って重体となり、
「天使を見ちゃいけない」と言うが亡くなってしまう。
The two feel happy, but their joy is
short-lived
when Maggie, out shopping on her bicycle,
gets into an accident and is
seriously injured.
He says, "You
shouldn't look at angels," but dies.
嘆き悲しむセスだったが、かつての仲間であった天使カシエルに、
たとえ一夜でも人間として愛する人と過ごせて幸せだった、
永遠の命を捨てても悔いはないと語り、
このまま人間として生きて行くことを決意する。
Although Seth is grieving,
he tells his former
companion, the angel Cassiel,
that he was happy to have been able to
spend even just one
night with his loved one as a human,
and that he has no
regrets
even if it means giving
up eternal life.
He then decides
to continue living as a human.
