空母赤城(あかぎ) Aircraft carrier Akagi


空母赤城(あかぎ)Aircraft carrier Akagi、現在present-dayの群馬県Gunma Prefectureの赤城山(あかぎやま)Mount Akagiにちなんで名付けられたnamed after日本海軍Imperial Japanese Navyのために建造builtされた航空母艦Aircraft carrierである。

Akagi was an aircraft carrier built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN), named after Mount Akagi in present-day Gunma Prefecture.

赤城(あかぎ)Akagiは天城型巡洋戦艦(あまぎがた・じゅんようせんかん)Amagi-class battlecruiserとして起工laid downされたが、ワシントン海軍条約Washington Naval Treatyの条項termsを遵守complyするため建造中while still under constructionに航空母艦Aircraft carrierに改造convertedされた。

Though she was laid down as an Amagi-class battlecruiser, Akagi was converted to an aircraft carrier while still under construction to comply with the terms of the Washington Naval Treaty.

他の艦隊空母fleet carriersと共に、1941年(昭和16年)12月の真珠湾攻撃Attack on Pearl Harborと1942年(昭和17年)1月の南西太平洋Southwest Pacificのラバウル侵攻invasion of Rabaulに参加したtook part in。

With other fleet carriers, she took part in the Attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and the invasion of Rabaul in the Southwest Pacific in January 1942.

翌1942年(昭和17年)2月、空母赤城(あかぎ)Aircraft carrier Akagiの航空機aircraftはオーストラリアAustraliaのダーウィンDarwinを爆撃bombedし(ダーウィン空襲Bombing of Darwin)、オランダ領東インドDutch East Indiesの征服conquestを支援assistedした。

1942年(昭和17年)3月と4月、空母赤城(あかぎ)Aircraft carrier Akagiの航空機aircraftはインド洋空襲Indian Ocean Raidでイギリスの重巡洋艦British heavy cruiserとオーストラリアの駆逐艦Australian destroyerを撃沈sinkするのを助けたhelped。

In March and April 1942, Akagi's aircraft helped sink a British heavy cruiser and an Australian destroyer in the Indian Ocean Raid.

短い改修brief refitの後、空母赤城(あかぎ)Aircraft carrier Akagiと機動部隊Mobile Forceの他の3隻の艦隊空母fleet carriersは1942年(昭和17年)6月のミッドウェー海戦Battle of Midwayに参加したparticipated in。

After a brief refit, Akagi and three other fleet carriers of the Kido Butai participated in the Battle of Midway in June 1942.

After bombarding American forces on the atoll, Akagi and the other carriers were attacked by aircraft from Midway and the carriers Enterprise, Hornet, and Yorktown.

救えないcould not be savedことが明らかになったとき、空母赤城(あかぎ)Aircraft carrier Akagiは敵の手に落ちるfalling into enemy handsのを防ぐpreventために日本の駆逐艦Japanese destroyersによって自沈scuttledした。

When it became obvious she could not be saved, she was scuttled by Japanese destroyers to prevent her from falling into enemy hands.

ミッドウェー海戦Battle of Midwayで空母赤城(あかぎ)Aircraft carrier Akagiと他の3隻の日本海軍Imperial Japanese Navy空母Aircraft carriersを失ったlossことは、日本Imperial Japanにとって重要な戦略的敗北crucial strategic defeatであり、太平洋Pacificにおける連合国の最終的な勝利Allies' ultimate victoryに大きく貢献したcontributed significantly。

1942年(昭和17年)6月5日午後11時55分、空母飛龍(ひりゅう)Aircraft carrier Hiryuの喪失the lossにより勝敗が決したことを悟ったrealizing that victory was decided山本五十六(やまもと・いそろく)Isoroku Yamamoto司令長官Commander-in-Chiefは、ミッドウェー攻略attack Midway中止stopを各部隊に命じるOrder each unit。

At 11:55 p.m. on June 5, 1942, Commander-in-Chief Isoroku Yamamoto, realizing that victory was decided by the loss of the aircraft carrier Hiryu, decided to attack Midway. Order each unit to stop.

Politics of the Konin dynasty

770年(宝亀1年)、称徳天皇(しょうとく・てんのう)Empress Shōtoku(在位764~770)についで即位した光仁天皇(こうにん・てんのう)Emperor Kōnin(在位770~781)は、藤原良継(ふじわらの・よしつぐ)Fujiwara no Yoshitsugu(716年~777年)・藤原百川(ふじわらの・ももかわ)Fujiwara no Momokawa(732~779)らとともに政治の改革political reformsに着手embarked onし、次の桓武新政(かんむ・しんせい)Kammu Restorationの直接の前提条件direct preconditionsを作り上げた。

In 770 (Houki 1), Emperor Konin succeeded to the throne after Emperor Shotoku (reigned 764-770) (Emperor Koken's reign). c) (reigned 770-781) (grandson of Emperor Tenchi) (father of Emperor Kanmu) was Fujiwara no Yoshitsugu and Fujiwara no Momokawa (Fujiwara no Umakai). He embarked on political reforms together with others, and created the direct preconditions for the next Kammu Restoration.

その政治改革political reformsは次のようなものであった。

①官制の整理Arrangement of government regulations

特別なもの以外の令外官(りょうげ・の・かん)Ryoge-no-kan(New government posts not stipulated in the Ritsuryo)を廃止abolishedし、官人government officialsの監督supervisionを強化した。

Ryoge-no-kan, except for special ones, was abolished, and the supervision of government officials was strengthened.

 

②財政の緊縮fiscal austerity

冗官(じょうかん)redundant officersの整理Reorganizationや封戸(ふこ)Fukoの一代限りの給与salaryなど。

③国司(こくし)Provincial governors・郡司(ぐんじ)District governorsの監督の強化Strengthening the supervision

藤原百川(ふじわらの・ももかわ)Fujiwara no Momokawa(732~779)は、藤原式家(ふじわら・しきけ)Fujiwara Shikike(Ceremonials House of Fujiwara)の祖founderである藤原宇合(ふじわらの・うまかい)Fujiwara no Umakaiの八男the eighth son。


④兵士制の改革military reform

裕福な百姓wealthy peasantsで弓馬に優れたexcelled in archery and horses者に武芸martial artsを習わせたり、仕丁(しちょう)servantsを郷里hometownsに帰すreturningなど農民の負担burden on farmers軽減lightenにも努めた。

Efforts were made to lighten the burden on farmers, such as having wealthy peasants who excelled in archery and horses learn martial arts, and returning their servants to their hometowns.

 

⑤墾田(こんでん)開発政策Konden Development Policy

道鏡(どうきょう)政権Dokyo governmentで停止された墾田(こんでん)策Konden Policyを旧に復した。

The Koden policy, which had been suspended by the Dokyo government, was restored to the old one.

仏教政治の否定Denial of Buddhist politics

政治の再編成political restructuringとともに、道鏡(どうきょう)Dokyo以後特に著しくなった仏教の政治介入political intervention of Buddhismを除き、仏教界the Buddhist worldを粛清purgedした。

Along with the political restructuring, he purged the Buddhist world, except for the political intervention of Buddhism, which became particularly conspicuous after Dokyo.

His biological mother was Shinkasa Takano, who was from the Kazu clan of Baekje immigrant clan.


桓武朝(かんむ・ちょう)Kanmu dynastyの政治politicsは光仁朝(こうにん・ちょう)Konin dynastyの政治粛清political purgeを受け継いで、

律令政治Ritsuryo politicsの再建reconstructに努め、特に律令の形式formalities of Ritsuryoよりもその理念の遵守the observance of the idealsに重点が置かれ、

のち光仁天皇(こうにん・てんのう)Emperor Kōninの皇后Empress。


他戸親王(おさべ・しんのう)Imperial Prince Osabeは、光仁天皇(こうにん・てんのう)Emperor Kōnin皇子Prince。

母motherは井上内親王(いかみ・ないしんのう)Imperial Princess Ikami。

皇太子Crown Princeに立てられたが、のちに母mother井上内親王(いかみ・ないしんのう)Imperial Princess Ikamiの大逆の罪the crime of high treasonにより廃されabolished、庶人に落とされて幽閉先にて没したdied in confinement。

Although he was made Crown Prince, he was later abolished due to the crime of high treason by his mother, Imperial Princess Inoue, and was exiled to a commoner and died in confinement.

井上廃后事件(いかみ・はいごう・じけん)

Empress Ikami Abandonment Incident

井上皇后(いかみ・こうごう)Empress Ikamiが光仁天皇(こうにん・てんのう)Emperor Kōnin(在位770~781)を呪い殺そうとしたtried to curse to deathという理由で、

Empress Inoue (Empress Konin, Princess of Emperor Shomu) tried to curse the Emperor to death.

井上皇后(いかみ・こうごう)Empress Ikamiと他戸皇太子(おさべ・こうたいし)Crown Prince Osabeが廃されabolished、2人とも獄死died in prisonした事件incident。

An incident in which Empress Inoue and Crown Prince Osabe were abolished and both died in prison.


藤原百川(ふじわらの・ももかわ)Fujiwara no Momokawa(732~779)は、藤原式家(ふじわら・しきけ)Fujiwara Shikike(Ceremonials House of Fujiwara)の祖founderである藤原宇合(ふじわらの・うまかい)Fujiwara no Umakaiの八男the eighth son。


これは山部親王(やまべ・しんのう)Imperial Prince Yamabe(桓武天皇(かんむ・てんのう)Emperor Kanmu)をたてようとした藤原百川(ふじわらの・ももかわ)Fujiwara no Momokawa(732~779)らの陰謀conspiracyと言われている。

Nagaokakyo was a capital city in the late Nara period (or early Heian period) located in Otokuni County, Yamashiro Province (now Muko City, Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture, and Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto City).

延暦3年(784年)11月11日、第50代天皇the 50th Emperor桓武天皇(かんむ・てんのう)Emperor Kanmuにより平城京(へいじょう・きょう)Heijō-kyōから遷都transferred the capitalされ、延暦13年(794年)10月22日に平安京(へいあん・きょう)Heian-kyōに遷都transferred the capitalされるまで機能した。

On November 11, 784, the fiftieth Emperor Kanmu transferred the capital from Heijo-kyo to Heian-kyo on October 22, 794.


長岡京(ながおか・きょう)遷都

天下の徳政相論The Tokusei Souron of the Worldのあと、桓武天皇(かんむ・てんのう)Emperor Kanmu(在位781~806)が死ぬと、皇太子Crown Princeが即位ascended the throneした。

薬子の変(くすこ・の・へん)の勃発

Outbreak of Kusuko Incident

こうした状況のもとで、病身illの平城天皇(へいぜい・てんのう)Emperor Heizeiは嵯峨天皇(さが・てんのう)Emperor Saga(在位809~823)に譲位abdicatedした。

Under these circumstances, the ill Emperor Heizei abdicated to Emperor Saga (reigned 809-823) (Emperor Heizei's younger brother).

しかし平城上皇(へいぜい・じょうこう)Retired Emperor Heizeiは、藤原薬子(ふじわらの・くすこ)Fujiwara no Kusukoの勧めrecommendationもあって平城京(へいじょう・きょう)遷都relocate the capital to Heijo-kyoを企てただけでなく、独自に政令government decreeも発した。

However, the Retired Emperor Heizei not only attempted to relocate the capital to Heijo-kyo at the recommendation of Fujiwara no Kusuko, but also issued his own government decree.
