戦艦金剛(こんごう)Battleship Kongoは、日本海軍Imperial Japanese Navyが初の超弩級巡洋戦艦(ちょう・どきゅう・じゅんよう・せんかん)Super-dreadnought Battlecruiserとして発注orderした金剛型巡洋戦艦(こんごうがた・じゅんよう・せんかん)Kongo-class battlecruiserの1番艦First vessel。

Battleship Kongo was the first of the Kongo-class battlecruisers ordered by the Japanese Navy as the first super-dreadnought battlecruiser.

イギリスUK・イングランドEnglandのバロー=イン=ファーネスBarrow-in-Furness造船所Shipyardの、ヴィッカース社Vickers Shipbuilding Companyで建造Built。

Built by Vickers at Barrow-in-Furness shipyard in England.

イギリスBritish Empireに発注orderされた最後lastの主力艦Capital shipである。

She was the last capital ship ordered by Britain.

2度の改装後は高速戦艦high-speed battleshipとして、太平洋戦争Pacific Warでも活躍した。

なお戦艦金剛(こんごう)Battleship Kongoは、日本海軍Imperial Japanese Navyが太平洋戦争Pacific Warで使用した唯一の外国製foreign-built日本戦艦Japanese battleshipでもあった。

戦艦金剛(こんごう)Battleship Kongoの艦名vessel nameは奈良県と大阪府の境にある金剛山(こんごうさん)Mount Kongoにちなんで命名nameされた。

1944年(昭和19年)10月25日のサマール沖海戦Battle off Samar後に、戦艦金剛(こんごう)Battleship Kongoは、日本本土Japanese mainlandへの帰還Returnが決定した。

これを正中の変(しょうちゅう・の・へん)Shochu Incidentと言う。
